    What is Random Passport?

Random Passport is a free browser game about the parts of South Korea that rarely make it into travel guides. Every flight drops you into one of the country's 3,558 administrative neighborhoods, picked at random. It might be a busy city dong, a market town (eup) or a farming township (myeon). You see where you landed straight away, look around in street-level photos, read a few notes about the place and collect its passport stamp.

You don't have to guess anything and there is no score. The fun is the landing itself. One flight puts you in a fishing village on an island in the Yellow Sea. The next one puts you in a new apartment district at the edge of Seoul. After a few flights you know Korea better than most guidebooks do.

    How a flight works

    1. Pick a flight. Today's 5 gives everyone the same five landings today. Mix, Back alleys and Landmarks are random every time.
    2. Press Depart. The boarding pass names the place and a red pin marks it on the map.
    3. Look out the window. Drag the Roadview photo to look around and tap the arrows to walk down the street.
    4. Read the local notes. You get where the name comes from, a photo spot, local food and festivals, and the city's landmark.
    5. Collect stamps. Every neighborhood has its own stamp. Your first landing in each city or county also earns its landmark stamp. Fill the 12 famous landmark boxes to get an Honorary Citizen certificate.

The full rules are on the how to play page.

Korea in numbers: 16 regions, 256 cities and counties, 3,558 neighborhoods

South Korea is divided into provinces and metropolitan cities, then into cities (si), counties (gun) and districts (gu). The smallest unit with its own community office is the neighborhood. City areas are split into 2,155 dong. The countryside has 237 eup, which are towns, and 1,166 myeon, which are rural townships. In Random Passport each kind has its own stamp shape: a circle for a dong, a rounded square for an eup and a flower for a myeon.

These 3,558 neighborhoods are home to 51,082,431 registered residents (resident registration, September 2026). The busiest is Mulgeum-eup in Yangsan-si, with 117,251 people. The quietest is Geunbuk-myeon in Cheorwon-gun, with just 87. A random flight is much more likely to land in a farming township than in downtown Seoul. That's why the game feels so different from a normal trip to Korea.

    Explore Korea by region

Each region page lists its cities and counties. You get the landmark stamp, local food and festivals for each one, and a link to every neighborhood.

    Questions

Is it free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it's free, and you don't need an account. Your stamps are saved only in your own browser.
Where do the street photos come from?
They are Kakao Map Roadview photos, shown with the Kakao Maps API. Some places have none, and then you get written clues instead.
    How is “Today's 5” chosen?
The date picks the five landings, so everyone in the world flies to the same five places on the same day. That makes it easy to compare trips with friends.
    Can I play in Korean?
Yes. Open the Korean version or use the language button in the game.
